That Sober Guy Podcast

My name is Shane Ramer. As long as I was high I didn't have to feel. Drugs took the pain away, and to be honest, I liked being high. I thought I was cool. I even had a nickname, 'Cocaine Shane'. I'm a regular dude from the suburbs in Northern California. After 17 years of struggling with drugs and alcohol, for the first time in my life I took a stand for something. I didn't care what anyone would say. I didn't care what anyone would think. I went to rehab and got sober September 11th, 2013. Now I talk to people about addiction, alcoholism, recovery, and more. If I can do it, you can do it too. Check us out at

Mike Gambo is a writer, Hip-Hop artist and also co-owner of Hood Hippie Entertainment. He also works for Transformations Treatment Center and helps operate their music recovery program Soundpath Recovery. After dropping out of high school to sell drugs, Mike soon found himself struggling with his own addiction to opiates. After a 6 year battle in and out of detox and methadone clinics, Mike eventually found himself homeless and hopeless. It was there he decided he would need to get clean, or die.

Today, Mike has been clean and sober since 2012. Mike uses his past experiences and talents through music as a way to help and encourage others looking for a better life free from addiction. Mike is also an outspoken voice on other topics including political policies, media, and helping to bring awareness and resources to others who are stuck in the game and hopeless cycle of drug dealing and gangs.
